Villeneuve set to extend stay with Pepsi Max Crew
Canadian Jacques Villeneuve is set to rejoin the Pepsi Max Crew at upcoming V8 Supercars events the Coates Hire Ipswich 300 and Sydney Motorsport Park.
The Pepsi Max Crew this week launched a competition to win a hot-lap with Villeneuve in the team's Commodore that closes on August 19, suggesting the Canadian, who left Australia immediately after the Sucrogen Townsville 400, will be returning in the not too distant future.
Villeneuve's only commitment outside of V8 Supercars is the NASCAR Nationwide race at his home track in Montreal on August 18, which falls on a weekend between the Coates Hire Ipswich 300 and Sydney Motorsport Park, leaving him free to drive in both events.
Villeneuve struggled to make an impression at the Sucrogen Townsville 400, retiring from his first solo V8 Supercars race following engine problems and finishing the second race in 24th place, 1.5 seconds per lap off the pace.
"I think I have done the hardest bit, so anything that comes after this will just be a lot easier," Villeneuve said post-Townsville.
"So I hope I can carry on with the Pepsi Max Crew and have more fun."
The Coates Hire Ipswich 300 will be held on August 3 to 5.
